Lesson 3
This is so important! You want someone who is respected in the community and who is totally ethical as your listing agent.
In fact, why would you ever want to deal with someone who is unethical in any circumstance?
Why would another agent bring a deal from their really qualified buyers to an agent who is unresponsive, untrustworthy, and a pain in the you-know-what? Even if your home is the Taj Mahal and you’re offering it at a screaming great price, other agents will steer their clients as far away as possible. And if you do happen to enter into a Contract of Sale while Mr. or Ms. Shady-pants Agent has your listing, trust me, it will not go well.
In this litigious world we live in, you’re putting yourself totally at risk.
Just don’t hire that weasel! Plenty of professionals out there are ethical and respected.
How Do You Scope Out an Agent's Reputation: Go online and check out Google, Zillow, Facebook, Realtor.com, or Yelp for client re- views. You can also check with the Better Business Bureau and the Indiana Real Estate Commission. If you know some Realtors® in the area, ask if they have any insight into the agent you’re considering.
